It's Addictive
Two more eggs.

And here are the two that have hatched.
Artume, , is the oldest and has matured.
And hatched this morning. I haven't named it yet since I'm not sure if it's a boy or a girl.

I’ve put this off for a while now, but it’s something I need to do.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, but if I don’t post now, I never will.

Groping Books
szandara has started bookgrope, an online book club. Knowing how many readers I know online and off I thought this might be of interest to somebody out there.
There's a poll up to decide which book will be first and while I've voted, deciding was not easy. They were all so good. Putter around and check it out. Should be excellent.

Alive
Today was the 5K. I made it. Here are my results. I'm not entirely sure that the total number of entries in the 5K, but whatever, I think I did pretty damn good for an out of shape, overweight 40 year old.
There was one gentleman walking in jeans, just strolling along. I pointed him out to Mamie and asked if it was okay if I hated him just a little. She said it was. Later he was much further ahead and I hated him a little bit more. :-)
It was pretty special. Not finishing was never an option, but a couple of times I thought a break would be nice. Kept a pretty steady pace throughout even though I fell behind the friends I was walking with. We pretty much stayed together until just after the 2 mile marker. A lady who had obviously finished came running/jogging back up against the tide. We thought she was nuts. When I got closer to the end, the people she had ran back to join caught up to me - and passed me - and it was a man walking hand in hand with a woman with Down's Syndrome. They were both being very solicitous of her and she just kept saying she was fine. As I was rounding the corner to the finish line, they asked everyone to move over to the left in single file because one of the wheelchair racers was coming in. That definitely puts things in perpective.
I'm definitely doing this again next year. The charity we were walking for, Kairos Outside didn't have the minimum required donations, but because it came so close with so few people - three women walking the 5K and one woman doing the half marathon - it will be able to be an official charity again next year.
Mamie and I at least are all ready planning to walk Race for the Cure in October and we should be able to get Debbie, the other walker today, to go with us.

Happy New Year!!!!
I'm not going to bore everyone with my resolutions, mostly because I'm not entirely sure what they are yet. But there will be some, 'cuz I do need to make some changes. Or rather continue the changes that have been taking place.
Last year was a pretty good year over all. There were ups and downs and I think I handled them both with faith. Which helps a whole lot. And I have some truly wonderful people in my life and that helps a whole lot too.
Since this is the biggest thing coming up soon, here goes. I'm walking in a 5K on January 14th. My friend Mamie is doing so to raise money for an organization near and dear to her heart and it's kinda hard to say no to Mamie. I like walking anyway and I needed a good incentive to start getting into shape. So, I've joined the YMCA and I'm actually enjoying it. Doesn't always feel like and I don't think I like the treadmill as much as actual walking, I'm doing something really good for myself and I do like how that feels.
Traditional Greek New Year's Eve toast: May the best thing that happened to you last year, be the worst thing that happens to you this year.
Someday I'll actually learn it in Greek.
Have a safe and happy and productive 2007 and may you all find your passion and your peace.

Supernatual fic
A short little Supernatural fic.
Title: Rainy Days and Mondays Rating: Everyone Disclaimer: Sadly the Winchester boys do not belong to me. Neither does Jim Murphy, though that's a little less sad. Summary: John Winchester and Jim Murphy's first meeting. Jim's POV. Author's Note: Thanks to persicpax and eloise_bright for taking the time to look it over. Anything you like, credit to them. Anything you have an issue with, I'm to blame. Enjoy.

Finally
While I'm not as convinced about the DeBeers conspiracy, this sums up at least some of the things I think about being a Beatrice who's not actively searching for her Benedict. If he exists at all.
Enjoy!

I so shouldn't be doing this at work, but I have a bit of leeway that I'm not telling the bosses about and well, ganked from enigmaticblues.

Voice in the Wilderness
Whatever your politics, read this.
In other news, I hate football. This is only in relation to the fact that the scheduled football game before the US Open Men's Final, Federer and Roddick - an American, is over. Finished. Done. Before the final was scheduled to start. Then CBS in their glorious wisdom started showing another football game. To make matters even worse, it's the Tennessee game. Arrggghhhh!!!!!!
A running theme for the past week has been bumperstickers. Favorites: graphic of the central figure in Munch's The Scream next to the words Bush Again?
Same vehicle: We are all family and we all have value.
Be a revolutionary. Practice your faith.
My all-time favorite: Four out of five cannibals recommend vegetarians.
P.S. I am slightly less upset about the football since the US Open site says the final will not start before 3:30pm local or 4:30 in New York. That's better.

Doing the Right Thing
I filed a small claims complaint againt the guy who owns the dog that attacked my Kirby in January 2005. It's just for vet bills since I wasn't hurt hardly at all.
On one hand, I'm very glad and proud of myself of taking another step, doing one more thing, a major thing, to take care of myself and getting my life in order.
On the other hand, the owner didn't respond to the registered letter I sent to try and work things out before resorting to court. I know, know, that I'll never see a penny of money because even with an adjudication in my favor, it doesn't mean he'll pay.
So, I've basically paid the filing fee simply to do the right thing. And I'm okay with that.

Chapter 2
Posted the second chapter of my fic for watchersdiaries. It is now complete.
Also wanted to update on the family members. They are adjusting very well and Cosmo is more preoccupied with them than either of the cats. However, they do make an ungodly amount of noise when together, so I've dubbed them Woofer and the Tweeters. Oh, and the little dude's names are staying Puff and Sky. It just fits them so well.
And I'm going to post this before the match is over, but GO AGASSI!!!! I love tennis.

Last night went with friends to a reading by Sue Monk Kidd, who wrote The Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair. Quite interesting. Nice thoughts and insights into feminine spirituallity. Looking forward to reading The Mermaid Chair.
Checking out a writing site I like, I ran across this. I find it really fascinating. Execution does mean as much as initial idea.

Happy New Year!
Just posting to wish everyone a happy and safe 2006. Here's a New Year's toast I first heard in Crete.
May the best thing that happened to you last year, be the worst thing that happens to you this year.
Settling in well, if slowly in the new place. Have scheduled this coming Saturday for moving the everything left out of the out house and bringing in here or in storage. I have the most amazing friends.
And just because I think everyone needs to hear this.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, which most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
You’re playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
You were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.
- Nelson Mandela

OMG!!!!!!
Paperwork has been signed. Money has changed hands. Tentative helpers have been enlisted in moving things Saturday.
I own a home. A townhome to be precise.
This is not exactly a new thing as I do own the house I'm living in now. But the house I live in now was always intended to be temporary, one way or another. The new house is permanent.
Still have to get packing done and things major and minor bought and scheduled for delivery. It's really going to happen though. I ... just ... wow ... neat!
